Refugee Professional Development

Most of our teaching and operations rely on the generous time and efforts of refugee community members who serve as volunteers. Volunteering at Roshan is a powerful and valuable experience for refugees who find connection, purpose and meaning in giving back. Roshan makes intentional efforts to empower refugee volunteers through on the job training, professional development, and other opportunities to improve their English and develop skills useful for future jobs, further education, or resettlement.

Refugee volunteers gain practical, first-hand experience in:

  • Marketing & communications

Types of supports/opportunities (depending on role and funding available): 

  • On-the-job mentorship

  • Leadership and management skill straining 

  • Certifications (ex: TESOL) and courses
